Review: Playing with Fire by Kate Meader

Review: Recommended for: Scandal fans (especially #TeamOlitz). I’m not sure why, but I feel under-the-surface similarities between them and this couple. Loved this! Even more than the first book in the series. In Flirting with Fire, I loved the chemistry, the relationship, and Luke on his own. But I didn’t love Kinsey on her own – mostly just as part of “Luke and Kinsey.” In Playing with Fire, I loved both main characters on their own as much as I loved them together. Alex reminded me of someone who was just born to be Wonder Woman for Halloween…or in real life. 😛 […]

Review: The Phoenix Campaign by Heidi Joy Tretheway

Review: To be honest, this was a bit of a fizzle to me compared to how much I loved the first book in the series. I didn’t hate it by a long shot, but a lot of things I don’t normally like to read about. In the pros column, here’s what the book had going for it: Just being a political romance reminds me of Scandal, which is always great. My Review: Advanced warning: I read On the Record and For the Record back-to-back, and I’m now having trouble remembering what feelings I had during which book. So while plot-wise, this review sticks to For the Record, feels-wise, it’s kind of a pseudo-hybrid review. I’m assuming that’s a new term in the book blogging world. 😛 I feel like the theme of this book was tying up loose ends. Things kind of exploded at the end of the second book, to the point where I’m surprised my dropped jaw wasn’t blocking the view of my e-reader. It was a great […]

Review: The Phoenix Candidate by Heidi Joy Tretheway

Review: Move over, Olitz, I have a new favorite political power couple. (And don’t give me grief for being Team Fitz, y’all. Mellie will be SO much better off without him and could have a kicks political career of her own as long as Portia’s character doesn’t mess things up too much.) Anyway… Loved, loved, loved this book. In general, I have no interest in politics. But I have found that I have a very deep interest in fictional politicians’ romantic lives. Does anyone else wonder if these books and shows are always so hot because it’s a politician’s job […]
