Be a Better Blogger: Clean Up Your Categories

Hey everyone! Welcome to this month’s Be a Better Blogger challenge! But first, a few housekeeping items: New Be a Better Blogger Structure The structure of BABB is going to be changing a little, with linkups and stuff. You may have noticed there was only one linkup for February, instead of the two there were in January (one for the announcement, and once for the results). To simplify things, the two will be combined. I noticed a lot of people were doing both in the same post, and that’s also what I do for challenges I participate in. So on […]

3 Tips for Sticking to a Blogging Schedule

In this month’s Be a Better Blogger challenge, we’re learning how to create and stick to a blogging schedule. If you’d like to join us, view the challenge and sign up here. We’ve talked a lot about blogging schedules in the past few weeks. What a blogging schedule is, how to figure out your own, and tools for creating your editorial calendar. All that planning is well and good, but kind of pointless if you don’t actually stick to your schedule. You know what they say about the best laid plans, and all that. A blogging schedule is pointless if you […]

5 Editorial Calendar Tools Worth Trying

In this month’s Be a Better Blogger challenge, we’re learning how to create and stick to a blogging schedule. If you’d like to join us, view the challenge and sign up here. First of all, that’s the only real part that your readers see. Second, you have a blog. Obviously, posts need to be published on it, preferably on a regular basis. Finally, writing blog posts may be the most time-consuming part […]

My February Be a Better Blogger Goals

Hey everyone! I just posted the February Be a Better Blogging challenge. This month, we’re creating blogging schedules. I already have a pretty detailed schedule, so there’s not much I’ll need to do, but I do want to add a few things to my structure: Become better at sticking to the editorial calendar when it comes to non-mandatory posts (aka not blog tour stops). Create a schedule for backing up my blog and mailing list. Overall,  stick to the schedule better, even if I come home from work really tired. Complete tasks early more often. Stay tuned throughout the month […]

The Weekly Write-Up: Back to the Daily Grind

The Weekly Write-Up is where I talk about what’s gone on in the past 168 hours, both on the blog and off. Oh, what a week. I’ve barely slept at all and already dropped several New Year’s resolutions, but now I’m relaxed in my TARDIS onesie livetweeting the Golden Globes, drooling over Matt Bomer (who won!) with popcorn and wine, so all is good. How to Beat Book Blogger Burnout

Your blog calendar was completely full. Reviews, interviews, tutorials, tour stops, the works. Your blog had everything a book lover could want, and your stats showed it. Email subscribers, Facebook likes, affiliate earnings; they were all going up. It’s an amazing feeling. I can speak to that. But it can’t last. The amount of work that it takes isn’t sustainable for a one-woman blog, which I know a lot of us are. Eventually, you’re tired, you’re overbooked, and what’s worse, running the blog isn’t fun anymore.

#BookBlogWriMo Day 30 – That’s a Wrap

Welcome to day 30 of #BookBlogWriMo! WE DID IT! Gah! I’m so excited/sad. Today is the last month of #BookBlogWriMo, and I’m SO proud of myself and everyone else who stuck with it until the end! I haven’t officially collected feedback (peeps that did it: watch out for an email with a survey link soon), but I already have people talking about doing it again, wanting to co-host, and basically making me feel really good for starting this challenge I feel like I’ve really grown as a blogger in the past month. On days when it was 11:30 and I really […]

#BookBlogWriMo Day 29 – The Future of Book Bumblings

Welcome to day 29 of #BookBlogWriMo! We’re going back to the future now. At the beginning of this challenge, we talked about the history of our blogs. Since the challenge is now ending and today is the last real prompt (tomorrow is a wrap-up), it seems appropriate to look to the future. I have a lot I want to do with this blog. Too many ideas to actually implement them all soon, which sucks. But here’s a few items on my “To-Do…Someday” list:
