Review: Private Internship by Kitsy Clare

My Review: The main reason I wanted to read this book was because I didn’t really like the first book in the series, Model Position. I don’t like when I don’t like books and their characters. Books are glorious, and I just want to love them all! I’ve gotten pretty good at choosing what books to read, so normally I do end up liking the book. But I didn’t really like Model Position and wanted Kitsy Clare and her characters to redeem themselves. Good news! They kind of did. But only kind of. Gah! Cognitive dissonance! It’s the worst! My […]

Review: Club Luxe 1: The Private Room by Olivia Noble

My Review: I don’t know why I always feel the need to warn you when I write a short review about a short book. But I do, so I will: this review is short since the book is short. I read this so long ago, and even when I was reading it didn’t leave much of an impact. So waiting so long to write the review was probably stupid on my part. Normally, I would reread the book, but what I do remember is being pretty unimpressed, so I don’t really want to. First off, an erotica novella doesn’t leave […]

Review: Love Bites by Rachel K. Burke

My Review: So up front, I will say that this book wasn’t my kind of thing. I always have trouble really getting into the book’s world when it’s told by alternating between the past and present. But that’s my only major issue with the book, and it’s totally a personal preference. The only reason this book is 3 stars instead of 4 is because this is a personal blog, and I think personal preferences should play into the ratings. Objectively? This book was pretty great. I have my coworker reading it now and she really likes it. It’s just…my favorite […]

Review: For the Record by K.A. Linde

My Review: Advanced warning: I read On the Record and For the Record back-to-back, and I’m now having trouble remembering what feelings I had during which book. So while plot-wise, this review sticks to For the Record, feels-wise, it’s kind of a pseudo-hybrid review. I’m assuming that’s a new term in the book blogging world. 😛 I feel like the theme of this book was tying up loose ends. Things kind of exploded at the end of the second book, to the point where I’m surprised my dropped jaw wasn’t blocking the view of my e-reader. It was a great […]

Review: Return to You by Samantha Chase

My Review: This was a really cute book. The premise, the family elders playing matchmaker to marry their kids and nieces and nephews off, that I just love. I also really liked the characters and how they interacted with each other. Chemistry was off the charts, both in terms of sexual chemistry and interacting with each other on an everyday basis. And not just Selena and James. The secondary characters were really great, too. However, the plot lacked originality. I love second chance romances, and the reason for the first separation doesn’t need to be anything spectacular. But if it’s […]

Review: New Point by Olivia Luck

Review: I really can’t make up my mind about this book. I’ve flip-flopped back and forth between loving it and rolling my eyes at it countless times during the book, and even in the time since. I feel like the entire book makes the “tragic event” seem like something much bigger than it actually was. I’m not trying to belittle the situation, it was definitely something that would stay with a person for a long time. And as someone with a history of anxiety, I know how things that seem small to other people are much bigger deals to you. […]

Review: Cover Story by Rachel Bailey

Review: This book was a little too sugary sweet for me, but I can think of a few friends that would like it. I mean, I have a slight gnome obsession (I will disown my family if I don’t come home from Christmas with the gnome Chia pet I asked for), but even I was like, “enough.” It was quirky and cute at first, and I absolutely loved it. But then I was expecting it to lead in to a bigger plot line in terms of Tobi’s career. But then gnomes became one of the most important parts of the […]

#ThrowbackThursday Review: Elite by Rachel Van Dyken

My Review: So since this book just came out in paperback, I think it’s time for another throwback! I just reread this after reading all of the other books in the series. Honestly, I forgot how undecided I was about this book the first time I read it. It was one of those situations where I kind of hated myself for buying the next book in the series, but I needed to find out more and see if the series redeemed itself. I’ve read all the others except for Bang Bang (which is still sitting in my TBR Kindle folder). […]

Review + Excerpt: Working Girl by A.E. Woodward

Review: Recommended for: Fans of stories with broken characters and people learning how become more than the life they’d been handed. This was kind of meh for me. It kept getting better as I read on, but it was kind of tough to get through in the beginning. For someone who’s so determined to forget and escape her past, Presley sure harps on it a lot. I totally get that she has reason to be a little pessimistic, but wow, did she have a bad outlook. I feel like if it weren’t for Emerson’s influence, she would have been to […]
