Review: On My Knees by J. Kenner

On My Knees Review: Honestly, this book felt a little like filler to me. Like how the middle of every single season of Revenge is. Where the writer has something really huge coming up for us, but is saving it for the season finale (or in this case, the final book). To explain it in real terms, instead of my own language of relating things to TV shows, the book was kind of a plateau. It kind of mirrored Say My Name a lot – the same issues, but with different details. And it ends on a cliffhangy high note extremely similar […]

Review: Dare You To by Rhian Cahill

Dare You To Review: This book was okay, but quick (82 pages according to Goodreads) and nothing spectacular. Very average. It was enjoyable and a good choice when you have an hour to kill or need something short to read while you’re waiting on an upcoming release. My main issue is that the whole thing felt very rushed. I love a good novella, but a lot of times there’s a lot of pacing issues. For example, in this book it felt like C.L Parker was trying to cram a full novel’s worth of plot into a novella’s word count. It […]

Review: Falling for His Best Friend by Katee Robert

Review: We all know I’m such a sucker for a friends with benefits book by now, so this book started out on a good note for me. Especially the “can’t keep their hands off each other” kind of scenario. God, I loved it. The pregnancy twist was something that I had trouble with. It seemed a little sitcom-ish to me. Maybe because a few of my “I’ve seen each episode 100 times” shows have has similar scenarios before: Friends, Will & Grace, and Parks & Rec. Those shows make up about 2/3 of my TV on DVD collection. But yeah, […]

Review: Getting Lucky Number Seven by Cindi Madsen

Review: This wasn’t bad at all for me, but it also wasn’t standout. This review will be short, because there aren’t really any likes or dislikes to mention. It just failed to make a big impression on me. And yes, these are absolutely my least favorite types of reviews to write. First of all, the themes are two really popular ones right now: bucket lists and the nerdy girl gets the jock best friend. Seriously, looking at my review calendar right now, I see two others that are basically the same. At the end of the day? I’m okay with […]

Review: The Phoenix Campaign by Heidi Joy Tretheway

Review: To be honest, this was a bit of a fizzle to me compared to how much I loved the first book in the series. I didn’t hate it by a long shot, but a lot of things I don’t normally like to read about. In the pros column, here’s what the book had going for it: Just being a political romance reminds me of Scandal, which is always great. It manages to be a political romance, without having too much politics. Too much of that either bores or confuses me. Just the right amount, and it’s actually pretty interesting. The […]

Review: Dare to Hold by Carly Phillips

My Review: This one was an interesting choice for me going in. I’ve only read the previous two Dare to Love books, not all 5. So before starting this, I’m assuming I didn’t know/invest much in Scott yet. And I didn’t love Meg in Dare to Touch. I felt for her, but once she dropped the clinginess she just seemed kind of bland. But I do looooove these books (the ones I’ve read, at least). So I knew I would read it, especially to learn more about Scott. And when I did read it, Scott was my favorite character. Favorite […]

Review: Uninhibited by Melody Grace

My Review: First things first: the relationship in this book is confusing. The way it’s described from chapter to chapter doesn’t really seem consistent. I found myself constantly questioning what I knew about their past. It wasn’t even that different characters saw it differently. One character will describe it as sweet and innocent in one chapter, and hot and sexy in another. That lack of clarity just left me too confused to enjoy the book much. Alicia was also kind of annoying. Her life was guided by what never seemed much more than a puppy love crush. And even as […]

View blog tour schedule My Review: This book was a lighthearted, easy book that I might’ve categorized as a “beach read” if I didn’t just walk through 8 inches of snow to get into my apartment. Where it fell short for me was in depth…it felt sort of even, and blah. There weren’t really any true emotional roller coasters, which you may prefer. At first, it felt for me like a refresher after reading so many angsty New Adult romances recently. But after awhile, I felt like I wanted something to hold my breath for, to anticipate. By the end, […]

Review: This Much is True by Katherine Owen

View whole blog tour schedule My Review: This book was definitely interesting, and intense. And more unique than most new adult romances I’ve read lately. It was very well-written. I was more pulled into it than I was most dramas lately. There was always so much going on that I ended up canceling plans with a friend to stay in and finish the book. I mean, I had a really bad headache…yeah… Anyhoo, several hours and quite a few tears later, I’m really torn on this book. I can’t decide what I think of it. What I really loved were […]

Review: Lane Changes by S.L. Ellis

My Review: This one wasn’t for me. The past few years, I’ve almost exclusively read romance, but when I did have time to read in college, it was always women’s fiction like this book. The blurb seemed interesting, and for some reason I love when characters are P.I.s, so I requested it. It definitely wasn’t bad. I feel like my 3-star reviews are always books that other people would really like. It was just kind of blah for me. Not a lot of humor, not a lot of romance. Those are my two favorite things. There was stuff that was […]
