About Shaken, Not Stirred:Casey Markham is a man-eater in a rut. Swearing off relationships may keep her heart safe, but she's beginning to question if her casual flings will ever leave her satisfied. She's wondering if it's finally time to let go of the past and stop letting history control her future.
Bad boy biker, Tenn Jennings can't get Casey off his mind. A chance encounter with the beautiful blond has left its mark, and now he's determined to prove her wrong about everything she thought she knew about men.
It’s safe to say… Casey Markham has met her match.
God, I’m at the point where I feel like I’ve read enough of Sawyer Bennett’s books to say she’s my bestie. No, that’s not weird at all. Maybe, since besties should have read all of the other bestie’s books, and I’m making my way through Bennett’s catalog very slowly. But I’ve read like 4 or 5 books and I’m so in love with her writing style.
It’s similar to Lauren Blakely‘s in that the talk, even when it’s not really dirty talk, just feels dirty. And I fucking love it.
The writing is hot and funny and even the tame scenes, where the characters are just talking, manages to get you hot and bothered.
And while Casey got on my nerves a little bit, Tenn totally made up for it. He knew what he wanted (duh, Casey), and yes, he was determined to get it. But he didn’t just bulldoze his way into her life or push her much. As soon as they met, he was really good at figuring out when to fight back against Casey’s attempts to push him away. Sometimes he was all alpha and sexy. But other times he knew he needed to give her space, so he did. And it was sexy.
But with Casey, at least she knew what she was about. Sure, she only dated extravagantly rich dudes who spoiled her, but her reasons…made sense. She wasn’t with them for the money and spoiling, she just learned that guys who spoiled her and threw money around also had other traits that she needed in her “relationships.” That redeemed her past relationships to me, but she still just got on my nerves from time to time.
I hate that this was the first Last Call book I read, but at least they work so well as standalones. I already bought Make It a Double (since it’s currently free), and can’t wait to snag up the rest.
