Review: Sweet Bliss by Helena Rac

Review: First of all, this book was so fun, but so was becoming Twitter besties with Helena Rac and sharing my reactions with her while I read. 😛 @BookBumblings Thanks so much! Hope you enjoy it! ♥♥♥ — Helena Rac (@HelenaRacAuthor) November 9, 2015 @BookBumblings Omg Brittany, you're the first to let me know you started it! I hope you continue to love as you get through the story! 😊 😅 ♥ — Helena Rac (@HelenaRacAuthor) November 16, 2015 But then “needs to read” got in the way of “wants to read” and I caused someone else anxiety, which is […]

Review: Dirty Deeds by Megan Erickson

Alex has consistently been my favorite character in the Mechanics of Love books, whether or not she’s a main character in that one. I think this is for a few reasons: With her coveralls, maybe a bandana, and red lipstick, I picture her day-to-day outfit as kind of a pinup version of Rosie the Riveter, or Beyonce’s Rosie the Riveter Halloween costume. And as someone who loves girly makeup as well as baggy, comfy onesies, that’s a look I can get on board with. She’s a tiny ball of spitfire, reminding me of some of my other favorite characters. Because they […]

The Weekly Write-Up: I’m Not a Player, I Just Shop a Lot

The Weekly Write-Up is where I talk about what’s gone on in the past 168 hours, both on the blog and off. It’s My Life How was your Thanksgiving? Mine was expensive and such a save at the same time. Those recent illnesses I keep kvetching about made it hard to go home, so I stayed in the city by myself for kind of a blogging marathon. I got so much done! It was amazing! I’m really hoping to have my first paid product for sale either here or on my other blog by the end of the year. But one-upping […]

Review: More Than Comics by Elizabeth Briggs

Review: This was one of those books that I found still available on NetGalley months after its release, so it was a nice book I could take my time through and pick up between books with tight deadlines. I felt like I really took my time reading it more than I usually do, which had both its pros and its cons. I felt like I retained it all short-term more than I would have (not needing to reread paragraphs twice in a row or anything) otherwise. But I also don’t remember my initial reactions to the book as much as […]

Review: Ninja at First Sight by Penny Reid

Review: So, this happened last week: @bberg1010 #NoRegrets — Penny Reid (@ReidRomance) November 17, 2015 And it was really bad, because it was days until I could actually finish because of work and shiz and stuff and more shiz. I had to avoid the Facebook fan group, not because of spoilers but because of reactions I’d be jealous of. But that was the cool thing about this novella, and my lack of overall memory: even though I read a portion of it a year ago, it felt like new. Last year’s version was a shorter story. And when someone with a bad […]

Happy pre-Thanksgiving, my fellow U.S. bookworms! Thanksgiving is actually a holiday I associate more with reading than food. With my SED/ARFID, a food-centered holiday is a nightmare. So while I was younger and everyone else spent Thanksgiving day in the kitchen, I was up in my room reading to avoid getting nauseated from the sights and smells. When I got older, traffic going home for Thanksgiving was always worse than any other holiday (roughly double what it normally takes around here), traveling down I-95 was when I (a) got into listening to audiobooks to pass the time, and (b) remember sitting […]

Review: Once Upon a Power Play by Jennifer Bonds

Review: I really, really liked this one. Oh, the banter! The banter nearly killed me haha. It’s 4 stars for a vagueface reason – there just wasn’t anything to take me from ‘really like’ to ‘love.’ I got invested in the characters and the story, but wasn’t really absorbed in them. That’s not to say they all weren’t really fun. First of all, I love the way we started in Chloe’s head. The circumstances, her outfit, and what ends up happening make up a hilarious combination. Plus, I immediately related to Chloe. And not just because in her physical description, […]

The Weekly Write-Up: Organize Your ARCs

The Weekly Write-Up is where I talk about what’s gone on in the past 168 hours, both on the blog and off. Jump to: It’s My Life On the Blog Links I Lurve Book Bumblings It’s My Life Wow, so I think this is the longest I’ve gone without an update, even when I was in the middle of moving and starting the new job! Being suck all the damn time sucks. It’s coming up on 6 months now that I’ve been having worsening stomach probs, and it’s gettin’ bad, y’all. Pretty sure they’re ending tomorrow, though – fingers crossed! […]
