Review: Ninja at First Sight by Penny Reid

Review: So, this happened last week: @bberg1010 #NoRegrets — Penny Reid (@ReidRomance) November 17, 2015 And it was really bad, because it was days until I could actually finish because of work and shiz and stuff and more shiz. I had to avoid the Facebook fan group, not because of spoilers but because of reactions I’d be jealous of. But that was the cool thing about this novella, and my lack of overall memory: even though I read a portion of it a year ago, it felt like new. Last year’s version was a shorter story. And when someone with a bad […]

Review: One King’s Way by Samantha Young

Review: Craig! I’m so glad we got his story. Ever since he kissed Joss in book 1, I knew there was more to him than the fun-loving playboy. Or, I knew there would eventually be. And I loved him. He was an all-around good guy, none of that brooding “the hero’s only nice to the heroine” crap that I hate. How do you tolerate someone being a huge douchenozzle to everyone else but nice to you? Do you plan to just not take him out in public or not have him speak to / piss off the other important people […]

Review: Ms. Manwhore by Katy Evans

Review: Recommended for: Chi-town lovers and The Newsroom bingewatchers Short book (novella) = short review. I have mixed feelings about this. One the one hand, I’m never one to dislike extra bits & pieces of a favorite series. And I loved the Manwhore books. (Fun fact: it turns out I only read like 75% of Manwhore +1 before having to put it down for an ARC coming out soon. I forgot about this until I was halfway through this book and realized I spoiled myself [ick, that sounds gross]. As soon as I realized, I went back and finished book […]

Review: Dare You To by Rhian Cahill

Dare You To Review: This book was okay, but quick (82 pages according to Goodreads) and nothing spectacular. Very average. It was enjoyable and a good choice when you have an hour to kill or need something short to read while you’re waiting on an upcoming release. My main issue is that the whole thing felt very rushed. I love a good novella, but a lot of times there’s a lot of pacing issues. For example, in this book it felt like C.L Parker was trying to cram a full novel’s worth of plot into a novella’s word count. It […]

Review: Dream of You by Jennifer Armentrout

My Review: So, I’ve been intrigued by, but have never read, a 1001 Dark Nights novella before. Mostly because I was kind of confused about how they worked – I knew they were related to other series but wasn’t sure if / how they were related to each other. So I held back from buying any before finally deciding, “maybe I just need to dive in,” and reading this. I’m still kind of really confused about how the 1001 Dark Nights thing works, but I didn’t need to get it to enjoy the book. Don’t you love when you can […]

Review: Private Internship by Kitsy Clare

My Review: The main reason I wanted to read this book was because I didn’t really like the first book in the series, Model Position. I don’t like when I don’t like books and their characters. Books are glorious, and I just want to love them all! I’ve gotten pretty good at choosing what books to read, so normally I do end up liking the book. But I didn’t really like Model Position and wanted Kitsy Clare and her characters to redeem themselves. Good news! They kind of did. But only kind of. Gah! Cognitive dissonance! It’s the worst! My […]

Review: Beautiful Beloved by Christina Lauren

My Review: Squeeeee! Let me tell you a story: on Friday, I worked all day. Literally all day. From about 7:45 am to about 7 pm, working straight through my lunch break. And then there was a car accident on the way home from work and it took over an hour. I was either at work or in the car to/from work for over twelve hours. I was miserable. I couldn’t wait to just crawl into bed. I’m climbing up the stairs to my apartment and see a package. I get slightly excited because I figure it’s the paper-sized post-its […]

Release + Review: Wildcard Volume 3 by Missy Johnson

Review: Recommended for: Twisters and turners, tennis players, and anyone who wouldn’t be too sad to see one of their exes a little banged up. What I liked about this series was the distinctly different themes each volume has. Volume 1 was all about carefree, cocky Ryder. Volume 2 was when we saw vengeful, hurt Ryder. This volume was all about “I’ll fight and do anything for my woman,” Ryder. I loved it. I also loved the vulnerability both Ryder and Scarlett showed. Even though they were secure in their feelings for each other, they were really insecure in their […]
