Review: This Much is True by Katherine Owen

View whole blog tour schedule My Review: This book was definitely interesting, and intense. And more unique than most new adult romances I’ve read lately. It was very well-written. I was more pulled into it than I was most dramas lately. There was always so much going on that I ended up canceling plans with a friend to stay in and finish the book. I mean, I had a really bad headache…yeah… Anyhoo, several hours and quite a few tears later, I’m really torn on this book. I can’t decide what I think of it. What I really loved were […]

Review: Ember by Rachel Van Dyken

My Review: Okay, so real talk? While I love these mafia men (boys?), the angstiness and emo-ness of their POVs were starting to wear on me. I had enough emo in high school when I listened to nothing but Dashboard Confessional and The used. And the female POVs could only help so much. Until Bee. God, I love her. She was the perfect, perfect, perfect balance to Phoenix, who might be angstiest and emo-est of them all (with good reason). The male and female POVs were the perfect side-by-side in this book. Like chocolate and peanut butter. You had Phoenix, who […]

Review: Private Internship by Kitsy Clare

My Review: The main reason I wanted to read this book was because I didn’t really like the first book in the series, Model Position. I don’t like when I don’t like books and their characters. Books are glorious, and I just want to love them all! I’ve gotten pretty good at choosing what books to read, so normally I do end up liking the book. But I didn’t really like Model Position and wanted Kitsy Clare and her characters to redeem themselves. Good news! They kind of did. But only kind of. Gah! Cognitive dissonance! It’s the worst! My […]

Review: Love Bites by Rachel K. Burke

My Review: So up front, I will say that this book wasn’t my kind of thing. I always have trouble really getting into the book’s world when it’s told by alternating between the past and present. But that’s my only major issue with the book, and it’s totally a personal preference. The only reason this book is 3 stars instead of 4 is because this is a personal blog, and I think personal preferences should play into the ratings. Objectively? This book was pretty great. I have my coworker reading it now and she really likes it. It’s just…my favorite […]

Review: Still Beautiful by Amy Patrick

Review: One of my favorite things about Amy Patrick’s 20 Something series is that the main characters are always so likable. I can manage to enjoy a book while still wanting to slap the heroine in the face (and it happens frequently), but that never happens with this series. And this one was even better because they also made nerdy jokes all the time. 🙂 It did get kind of annoying how Cinda was always putting down her appearance, but it wasn’t like she was randomly insecure, like most insecure characters. It was a very understandable reaction to her surroundings […]

Review: New Point by Olivia Luck

Review: I really can’t make up my mind about this book. I’ve flip-flopped back and forth between loving it and rolling my eyes at it countless times during the book, and even in the time since. I feel like the entire book makes the “tragic event” seem like something much bigger than it actually was. I’m not trying to belittle the situation, it was definitely something that would stay with a person for a long time. And as someone with a history of anxiety, I know how things that seem small to other people are much bigger deals to you. […]

Review: Cover Story by Rachel Bailey

Review: This book was a little too sugary sweet for me, but I can think of a few friends that would like it. I mean, I have a slight gnome obsession (I will disown my family if I don’t come home from Christmas with the gnome Chia pet I asked for), but even I was like, “enough.” It was quirky and cute at first, and I absolutely loved it. But then I was expecting it to lead in to a bigger plot line in terms of Tobi’s career. But then gnomes became one of the most important parts of the […]

Excerpt: Enforce by Rachel Van Dyken

Oooh, I’m excited for this one! Reading Elite, I had a lot of questions. Things just seemed so far-fetched. I think this book will clear up a lot. Note: This book is Nixon/Chase’s POV of the timeline and events in Elite, Eagle Elite Book #1. Chapter 1 Excerpt: Nixon’s POV: I watched as the parade of cars made their way through the black iron gates, as if somehow those gates would protect them if the country went to war. Funny, they had no clue that the war—Lucifer himself, was already parading around inside, safe from the police- the feds- anyone […]

Review: Shape of My Heart by Ann Aguirre

Review: This book was awesome, but I have to say it was my least favorite of the trilogy. Fitting, since Shape of My Heart was my least favorite Backstreet Boys song out of the three the books in this series were named after. Also fitting since by the end of a series or trilogy you’ve loved, your expectations are set pretty high. I’ve always loved Max, since book one. In I Want It That Way, you see much of the fun of him and he was immediately someone I would want to hang out with. In As Long As You Love […]
