Review: Her Forever Hero by Melody Anne

Review: This book started off ‘meh’ for me but ended with a bang. I think it was just all the jumping around at the beginning to get us caught up to speed on Cam and Grace’s relationship since she moved back to town. (PS – it’s def more of a second-chance romance than it seems from the blurb, which I loved. You know I’m a sucker for those.) Once Cam and Grace started spending more time together and the stakes everywhere got a little higher, I got really sucked in. Stayed up til 5 am last night finishing it, actually. […]

Review: Beautiful Boss by Christina Lauren

Review: This was an intensely emotional read for me. Tears the whole time! Not sad tears or even happy tears all the time, just…intensity tears. Beautiful Bastard is one of my all-time favorite series. My reading tastes and preferences have changed a lot since I first read Beautiful Bastard in 2013. In fact, it’s just starting to occur to me that I don’t even read books by most of the authors who were my favorites back then. But Christina Lauren, and this series, are still at the top of my “love” list. And while I loved the first two books, […]

Review: Wicked Sexy Liar by Christina Lauren

Review: I’m really excited because the best way to describe how I feel about this book in relation to the rest of the Wild Seasons series works best as a Beyonce metaphor. I’m a card-carrying member of the #BeyHive. And when it comes to the Queen’s music, I’m all about the dance hits – Get Me Bodied, 7/11, etc. – that I can dance around and do booty pops and hair flips to. They’re fun and light, and that’s why I love them. But then I also love songs like Listen and Blue for the exact opposite reason. They’re heavy and […]

Review: Getting Rough by C.L. Parker

Review: The 2 most important things about this book: There’s another cliffhanger at the end, and it’s just as painful / frustrating as the last one. There’s also a Grease reference, which makes everything okay, because Grease is the word. So yeah. Authors, if you’re going to give me a cliffhanger, peppering it with showtune lyrics will make me not care. (Although it did stir up some of the nerves I have about this weekend’s Grease Live – I want it to be good! But what if it isn’t?) You know how some people say to deliver bad news with […]

Review: Appealed by Emma Chase

Review: We all know I love friends becoming lovers, girls/boys next door included, and this was an interesting twist on that. While Kennedy and Brent were friends at one point, they sure aren’t when they get together in the book. Childhood friends who grew apart in a painful way means lots of hurt that hasn’t been addressed, because the relationship ended when it happened. So I think this type of story has more of a backstory than most “friends with benefits”-type books that I liked watching play out. And I related to Kennedy’s side of that backstory so hard. I was that […]

Review: What You Need by Lorelei James

Review: Loooove! I have quite a few Lorelei James books in my folder of books picked up while they were free or on sale, but I don’t think I had actually read anything by her before. This was just something that made me make grabby hands at my NetGalley dashboard reading the description, and I knew I wanted to read it now versus adding another book to that folder. This book was hot. I mean, the books I review here always are, so it’s not something I even mention most of the time. But this was one of the rare […]

Review: Big Rock by Lauren Blakely

Review: Love, love, love, love, love. I feel like we might’ve found Drew Evans’ best friends? Cross-over episode, please? Spencer had that same brand of “I can get away with it” cockiness, plus all the actual cock talk. Like, a lot of it. I mean, let’s talk about the book’s name. Yes, there’s a rock involved, but that’s not where Spencer’s focus was. Reading the prologue, it was actually a little much. I mean, not the dirtiness itself. Fine by me! But the ego was a little much, and I was kind of going, “What did I just get myself […]

Review: First Touch by Laurelin Paige

Review: I’ve mentioned before that although I love romance as well as crime and suspense stories, I don’t usually mix them. That’s mostly because my main medium for romance is books, and my main medium for suspense is crime procedural dramas on TV. And reading sex scenes with a Criminal Minds murder scene going on in the background kind of feels like it would be a mood killer. Yes, Shemar Moore is the finest specimen the A&E network has ever seen, but I don’t even think that would be enough… (PS – Here are the Google Image search results for […]

Review: Sweet Bliss by Helena Rac

Review: First of all, this book was so fun, but so was becoming Twitter besties with Helena Rac and sharing my reactions with her while I read. 😛 @BookBumblings Thanks so much! Hope you enjoy it! ♥♥♥ — Helena Rac (@HelenaRacAuthor) November 9, 2015 @BookBumblings Omg Brittany, you're the first to let me know you started it! I hope you continue to love as you get through the story! 😊 😅 ♥ — Helena Rac (@HelenaRacAuthor) November 16, 2015 But then “needs to read” got in the way of “wants to read” and I caused someone else anxiety, which is […]

Review: Dirty Deeds by Megan Erickson

Alex has consistently been my favorite character in the Mechanics of Love books, whether or not she’s a main character in that one. I think this is for a few reasons: With her coveralls, maybe a bandana, and red lipstick, I picture her day-to-day outfit as kind of a pinup version of Rosie the Riveter, or Beyonce’s Rosie the Riveter Halloween costume. And as someone who loves girly makeup as well as baggy, comfy onesies, that’s a look I can get on board with. She’s a tiny ball of spitfire, reminding me of some of my other favorite characters. Because they […]
