Review: Ember by Rachel Van Dyken

My Review: Okay, so real talk? While I love these mafia men (boys?), the angstiness and emo-ness of their POVs were starting to wear on me. I had enough emo in high school when I listened to nothing but Dashboard Confessional and The used. And the female POVs could only help so much. Until Bee. God, I love her. She was the perfect, perfect, perfect balance to Phoenix, who might be angstiest and emo-est of them all (with good reason). The male and female POVs were the perfect side-by-side in this book. Like chocolate and peanut butter. You had Phoenix, who […]

Review: The Hooker and the Hermit by L.H. Cosway and Penny Reid

My Review: If someone told me I would meet a character, even one that Penny Reid helped create, that I had a bigger girl crush on than I do for various members of “that infamous knitting group” from the Knitting in the City series, I would have called you cray cray. Even with all the other characters my favorite authors write, I love them in a different, less girl crushy way than I do with the knitting ladies. But that was before Annie Catrel. (B.A.C., for future reference. Not to be confused with blood-alcohol concentration.) I loved her so hard, and […]

Review: Floored by Melanie Harlow

My Review: Gah! This might be my favorite book in the Frenched series! I can’t decide. It’s sooooo close between this and Forked. But then, in my world, in case of a tie, the book with the dance tie-in always wins. 😛 I’m so jealous of Erin for owning a dance studio. Let’s just get that out there. Floored beats Forked because of ballet. So let’s talk about the opening scene. Erin is on her game when it comes to fantasies. Seriously, good choices, girl. Good choices. Except for the whole leaving that stuff out when the cops show up. And […]

Review: Garrett by Sawyer Bennett

My Review: I read this book months ago and it’s SUCKED not being able to talk about it, but I wanted to wait to post my review until we were closer to it being published. Now, it’s coming out this month and I’m so excited for you all! WOW. Was not expecting such an intense conflict! Not that Alex was particularly light, what with the stuff about addiction, abuse, and neglect. But Garrett was so easygoing and fun in that book, that you I was expecting this book to not be so heavy. Welp, I assumed, and then I made an […]

Review: Still Beautiful by Amy Patrick

Review: One of my favorite things about Amy Patrick’s 20 Something series is that the main characters are always so likable. I can manage to enjoy a book while still wanting to slap the heroine in the face (and it happens frequently), but that never happens with this series. And this one was even better because they also made nerdy jokes all the time. 🙂 It did get kind of annoying how Cinda was always putting down her appearance, but it wasn’t like she was randomly insecure, like most insecure characters. It was a very understandable reaction to her surroundings […]

Review: The Phoenix Candidate by Heidi Joy Tretheway

Review: Move over, Olitz, I have a new favorite political power couple. (And don’t give me grief for being Team Fitz, y’all. Mellie will be SO much better off without him and could have a kicks political career of her own as long as Portia’s character doesn’t mess things up too much.) Anyway… Loved, loved, loved this book. In general, I have no interest in politics. But I have found that I have a very deep interest in fictional politicians’ romantic lives. Does anyone else wonder if these books and shows are always so hot because it’s a politician’s job […]

Review: Star Struck by Laurelin Paige

Review: Ah. I just reread this book and forgot how amazing it was. It really has it all. First, let’s talk about sex, baby. (“Let’s talk about you and me, let’s talk about all the good things and the bad things that may be. Let’s talk abouuuut it.”) Sometimes I feel like I’ve been desensitized to sex scenes. After all, I’ve probably read almost a thousand romance books with at least five sex scenes each. A lot of sex, some of it hot, some of it not. So when reading them, I don’t get hot and bothered and out of […]

Review: Three Christmases by Kat & Stone Bastion

My Review: Read my reviews of: No Weddings (Book 1) One Funeral (Book 2) Two Bar Mitzvahs (Book 3) Recommended for: Anyone who’s gotten through a long distance relationship and anyone who likes laughter with a side of “holy hotness!” I just wrote a review for another book where I had to mention that my review for the last book in a great series is usually the worst, since my expectations have been built up so high. Well, congratulations to Kat and Stone Bastion, because very rarely do I enjoy the final book just as much as the first one. […]
