Review: Everywhere and Every Way by Jennifer Probst

Review: Eek, this book, these characters, were highly cute. We know I love workplace romances, and I don’t hate a good enemies to lovers story. Two tightly wound type A people working together can be hilarious (when it’s not actually happening to you). Between Morgan and her Olivia Pope wardrobe (HOW DO THESE WOMEN NEVER SPILL?) and Caleb’s micromanaging his brothers, they both really needed to get laid. Good thing they did. But they still fought a lot, which is always good. Hot romances always have non-serious fighting / bickering – Tangled, Beautiful Bastard, etc. The one thing I wasn’t totally […]

Review: How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days! It was How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days! In a good way – the best way. Except there was no drunken “You’re So Vain.” A disappointment, but I can overlook it because reading drunk karaoke isn’t as fun as listening to and watching it anyway, not by a long shot. Plus, Matthew McConaughey never held much appeal for me, and Hudson does. The book was so cute, and I absolutely loved the “reporter girl” banter between Hudson and Whitney. And man, Whitney kind of sucked as a reporter. It […]

Review: Happily Ever Ninja by Penny Reid

Review: One thing I really love about this book is that I feel weird calling it a romance. Is it about a romantic relationship? Yes. But is it about the romantic aspects of that relationship? Not usually. It’s about all the other stuff, the messy stuff that you don’t get in romances because it makes the fairytale less perfect. And I’m all for the fairy tale. I actually still prefer that over realistic any day. But it was a cool change of pace to add in now and then. This was about the passive aggressive arguing, the aggressive arguing, the sadness, […]

Review: Getting Rough by C.L. Parker

Review: The 2 most important things about this book: There’s another cliffhanger at the end, and it’s just as painful / frustrating as the last one. There’s also a Grease reference, which makes everything okay, because Grease is the word. So yeah. Authors, if you’re going to give me a cliffhanger, peppering it with showtune lyrics will make me not care. (Although it did stir up some of the nerves I have about this weekend’s Grease Live – I want it to be good! But what if it isn’t?) You know how some people say to deliver bad news with […]

Review: What You Need by Lorelei James

Review: Loooove! I have quite a few Lorelei James books in my folder of books picked up while they were free or on sale, but I don’t think I had actually read anything by her before. This was just something that made me make grabby hands at my NetGalley dashboard reading the description, and I knew I wanted to read it now versus adding another book to that folder. This book was hot. I mean, the books I review here always are, so it’s not something I even mention most of the time. But this was one of the rare […]

Review: First Touch by Laurelin Paige

Review: I’ve mentioned before that although I love romance as well as crime and suspense stories, I don’t usually mix them. That’s mostly because my main medium for romance is books, and my main medium for suspense is crime procedural dramas on TV. And reading sex scenes with a Criminal Minds murder scene going on in the background kind of feels like it would be a mood killer. Yes, Shemar Moore is the finest specimen the A&E network has ever seen, but I don’t even think that would be enough… (PS – Here are the Google Image search results for […]

Review: Sweet Bliss by Helena Rac

Review: First of all, this book was so fun, but so was becoming Twitter besties with Helena Rac and sharing my reactions with her while I read. 😛 @BookBumblings Thanks so much! Hope you enjoy it! ♥♥♥ — Helena Rac (@HelenaRacAuthor) November 9, 2015 @BookBumblings Omg Brittany, you're the first to let me know you started it! I hope you continue to love as you get through the story! 😊 😅 ♥ — Helena Rac (@HelenaRacAuthor) November 16, 2015 But then “needs to read” got in the way of “wants to read” and I caused someone else anxiety, which is […]

Review: Dirty Deeds by Megan Erickson

Alex has consistently been my favorite character in the Mechanics of Love books, whether or not she’s a main character in that one. I think this is for a few reasons: With her coveralls, maybe a bandana, and red lipstick, I picture her day-to-day outfit as kind of a pinup version of Rosie the Riveter, or Beyonce’s Rosie the Riveter Halloween costume. And as someone who loves girly makeup as well as baggy, comfy onesies, that’s a look I can get on board with. She’s a tiny ball of spitfire, reminding me of some of my other favorite characters. Because they […]

Review: Ninja at First Sight by Penny Reid

Review: So, this happened last week: @bberg1010 #NoRegrets — Penny Reid (@ReidRomance) November 17, 2015 And it was really bad, because it was days until I could actually finish because of work and shiz and stuff and more shiz. I had to avoid the Facebook fan group, not because of spoilers but because of reactions I’d be jealous of. But that was the cool thing about this novella, and my lack of overall memory: even though I read a portion of it a year ago, it felt like new. Last year’s version was a shorter story. And when someone with a bad […]

Review: Once Upon a Power Play by Jennifer Bonds

Review: I really, really liked this one. Oh, the banter! The banter nearly killed me haha. It’s 4 stars for a vagueface reason – there just wasn’t anything to take me from ‘really like’ to ‘love.’ I got invested in the characters and the story, but wasn’t really absorbed in them. That’s not to say they all weren’t really fun. First of all, I love the way we started in Chloe’s head. The circumstances, her outfit, and what ends up happening make up a hilarious combination. Plus, I immediately related to Chloe. And not just because in her physical description, […]
