Review: Last Kiss by Laurelin

Review: I don’t foray into romantic suspense often. In fact, this and First Touch may have been the only ones in the genre I read in 2016. And I don’t know if that scarcity is just why I love it so much, or if these books just kicked ass. I think they just kicked ass. 😉 I WAS SO INTO THIS, GUYS. So there was that huge, big, dramatic cliffhanger at the end of book 1, and then I waited ages to read book 2. So in the first few chapters, I had to think hard about what was going on […]

Review: First Touch by Laurelin Paige

Review: I’ve mentioned before that although I love romance as well as crime and suspense stories, I don’t usually mix them. That’s mostly because my main medium for romance is books, and my main medium for suspense is crime procedural dramas on TV. And reading sex scenes with a Criminal Minds murder scene going on in the background kind of feels like it would be a mood killer. Yes, Shemar Moore is the finest specimen the A&E network has ever seen, but I don’t even think that would be enough… (PS – Here are the Google Image search results for […]

Review: The Espionage Effect by Kat & Stone Bastion

The Espionage Effect Review: Oh – I don’t read suspense often. So when I do, it tends to be very hit or miss. Too much romance and not enough suspense? The suspense feels forced. Not enough romance? Well, I’m a dirty birdy. I get bored. I’m excited to say The Espionage Effect was a hit in my book. There were a few things that really annoyed me, which I’ll get into. But although they annoyed me a lot, they mattered very little. In the grand scheme of the book, at least. So I can overlook them when putting together my […]

Review: The Speak Easy Duet by Melanie Harlow

My Review: This series totally changes the way I feel about historical romance. I had tried a few historicals before, and DNFed all of them. They just felt so historical. The language, the thoughts, the everything, are so different that it’s hard to follow. The language is hard to understand, and trying to interpret it gets in the way of getting lost in the story. The thoughts are from a different world that, while interesting, is hard to relate to. Basically, I just could never get pulled into them. But The Speak Easy Duet is more like a contemporary romance that […]

#ThrowbackThursday Review: Elite by Rachel Van Dyken

My Review: So since this book just came out in paperback, I think it’s time for another throwback! I just reread this after reading all of the other books in the series. Honestly, I forgot how undecided I was about this book the first time I read it. It was one of those situations where I kind of hated myself for buying the next book in the series, but I needed to find out more and see if the series redeemed itself. I’ve read all the others except for Bang Bang (which is still sitting in my TBR Kindle folder). […]
