Review: The Consequence of Loving Colton by Rachel Van Dyken

The Consequence of Loving Colton Review: When I first found Rachel Van Dyken’s books, I was all about the suspense. I devoured the Eagle Elite series, despite having drastically different feelings during rereads. Cut to today, and instead she’s one of my favorite romantic comedy authors. Between Grandma + company in The Dare and Max especially in this, she writes the most amazing caricatures. Most of the characters in this book straddled the line between outrageously hilarious and outrageously annoying pretty closely, but it worked. Like 85% of the time, they were hilarious instead of annoying. There were times where someone was […]

Review: Zack by Sawyer Bennett

Zack Review: I have to tell you, I was afraid to read this book. With both Alex and Garrett, I dove into the book the same day I was approved for them on NetGalley. And I either finished that same day, or the very next. I procrastinated reading Zack for weeks. As much as I thought @BennettBooks’ Garrett devastated me, Zack’s storyline was a completely new level of unraveling.. Click To Tweet As much as the main story in Garrett devastated me, Zack’s storyline unraveled me. Frankly, I wasn’t sure I could handle this book. I knew, because 99% […]

Review + Giveaway: Truth or Beard by Penny Reid

Truth or Beard Review: Okay, so I think it’s pretty normal and expected to fall in love with the hero of a romance novel. I mean, that’s what I always do. Even if it’s not an endless, everlasting love, 99.9% of the time, my hero is the favorite guy in the book. Sorry, Duane. You’re the 0.1%. You’re not even a whole! Poor Duane. I do love you, I do. Just not as much as Cletus. I fell in love with Cletus more than Duane in #TruthOrBeard. Click To Tweet Cletus walks into a convenience store looking for something fairly normal and walks […]

Review: The Espionage Effect by Kat & Stone Bastion

The Espionage Effect Review: Oh – I don’t read suspense often. So when I do, it tends to be very hit or miss. Too much romance and not enough suspense? The suspense feels forced. Not enough romance? Well, I’m a dirty birdy. I get bored. I’m excited to say The Espionage Effect was a hit in my book. There were a few things that really annoyed me, which I’ll get into. But although they annoyed me a lot, they mattered very little. In the grand scheme of the book, at least. So I can overlook them when putting together my […]

Review: The Hierarchy of Needs by Rebecca Grace Allen

Review: The Hierarchy of Needs by Rebecca Grace Allen

The Hierarchy of Needs Review: I loved, loved, loved The Duality Principle. I always devour some good nerd love, and I thought Rebecca Grace Allen wove Gabriella’s professional life (proving her thesis) into her romantic life (Connor proving her wrong) really well. This book’s characters and general plot, I liked just as much. I don’t think the title fit well enough, though. The connection of the story to the hierarchy at needs felt forced at time. It was a lot of tell, and not show. For example, a lot of the connection was drawn by Dean in his head. I […]

Review: Dare You To by Rhian Cahill

Review: Dare You To by Rhian Cahill

Dare You To Review: This book was okay, but quick (82 pages according to Goodreads) and nothing spectacular. Very average. It was enjoyable and a good choice when you have an hour to kill or need something short to read while you’re waiting on an upcoming release. My main issue is that the whole thing felt very rushed. I love a good novella, but a lot of times there’s a lot of pacing issues. For example, in this book it felt like C.L Parker was trying to cram a full novel’s worth of plot into a novella’s word count. It […]

Review: Playing Dirty by C.L. Parker

Playing Dirty Review: First of all – GAH! This ending. Okay – be warned. It’s a cliffhanger. And it does not warn you. And it feels pretty unnecessary. The book left off in a place that would’ve been a great place to end the story completely. It always kind of throws me off when you have a series that normally focuses on each couple for one book, but then has one couple that breaks the pattern. That being said, rant over and I will definitely still read the other books in this series. Amazing dirty talk – as I start […]

Review: Moonlight on Nightingale Way by Samantha Young

Hey guys! As my new job leaves less time for blogging, I’m trying something new: quick and dirty reviews. This way I can spend less time turning the notes I take while/right after reading, into a review. And I’m still getting all the important stuff across, so why not? Review: Loved it. At first it was reminding me of Wallbanger a little too much. But then again, Wallbanger is fucking fantastic, one of my all-time favorites, so how much is too much? I was questioning the originality, but still loving every minute of it. But then you get to the […]

Review: Sweet Ache by K. Bromberg

Review: Hmmm…does rocker beat racer every time? I’m not sure about every time, but it was true for me here. My only point of comparison for this series is Colton and Rylee, since I haven’t read Slow Burn yet, but I have to say I like this relationship more. Where Colton was the typical demanding alpha, Hawke was more of a carefree, playful alpha. And I loved it. The chemistry between him and Quinlan drove me crazy. There are a few scenes in this book that have made their way to the top of my all-time favorite steamy scenes. 😉 […]

Review: My So-Called Life by J.D. Hollyfield

Review: Important spoiler alert: this book does not have anyone named Jordan Catalano. :/ I’ve yet to decide how I feel about that. I mean, I know how I feel about the Jordan Catalano, but yeah. You know, it’s funny. The first book of this series that I read was Life Next Door, book #2. Loved it. Went back and read book #1, but I’ve been putting off the review for months. Partly because I always procrastinate non-ARCs, and partly because I don’t want to write it. The writing, well, I wasn’t a huge fan of it. But what did make me […]
