Review: The Pitch by Belinda Williams

Review: Eh. My hopes were so high for this. I’m always a sucker for a hero or heroine working in PR or marketing. So when I see that, I jump. I think I need to start being more selective, especially when I’m normally so fucking picky when selecting books to read. Those careers, and dance, are my exceptions. It was a pretty cliche “woman trying to have it all” story where everything worked out a little too easily. Conflicts¬†weren’t particularly conflicty. Struggles were overcome or worked out easily. Everyone got along all the time. And the workplace dynamics really bothered […]

Review: One King’s Way by Samantha Young

Review: Craig! I’m so glad we got his story. Ever since he kissed Joss in book 1, I knew there was more to him than the fun-loving playboy. Or, I knew there would eventually be. And I loved him. He was an all-around good guy, none of that brooding “the hero’s only nice to the heroine” crap that I hate. How do you tolerate someone being a huge douchenozzle to everyone else but nice to you? Do you plan to just not take him out in public or not have him speak to / piss off the other important people […]

Review: Hard Beat by K. Bromberg

Review: So, I didn’t quite remember Tanner at first – even when he mentioned his sister once or twice. Then the third time or so, he mentioned his sister by name, and that’s when I put it together. But by his first trip up to the rooftop, I didn’t really care who he was. ūüėõ What I loved most about Hard Beat: the location. How many contemporary romances have you read lately that take place in the Middle East? Not your average beach area, small rural town, or big city that most contemporary and new adult books are located in. […]

Review: Friction by Sawyer Bennett

Oh man. I’ve finally decided the best way to describe Sawyer Bennett. She’s doing to careers in law what Shonda Rhimes did to careers in hospitals in 2005: made them seem damn sexy.¬†(Although Shonda’s shift towards “fixing” and getting away with murder makes me think maybe these things are sexy?) . @BennettBooks is like the Shonda Rhimes of making the law sexy. Click To Tweet Like seriously? They both have the “sex everywhere around the office as if it’s just watercooler chat” vibes going for them. Who else was¬†really intrigued by those smoke-filled walls? Although I have to wonder if […]

Review: Nuts by Alice Clayton

Review: I’m so sorry, Simon Wallbanger. I cheated on you. Well, I’ve done that before. Whoa boy, have I done that before, and I’m not even sorry. With the other men in your series. But I was keeping it in the family, you know? Which either makes it better or worse, I’m not sure… But now, no. And it’s not just a fling. It’s real and it’s deep (hehe). Lord do I worship Alice Clayton. And for good reason. I’ve still been a Will and Grace fan for too long and have to change the names of Jack and Grace […]

#TBT Review: Manwhore by Katy Evans

Review: This is kind of a mixed one for me. Normally, I usually use #ThrowbackThursday reviews to highlight my faves. But while reading Ms. Manwhore, I realized that I hardly remembered the first two books in the series. Like, to the point that I hadn’t even realized I never finished Manwhore +1. That’s bad. For me, that’s¬†extremely rare. So I went back and started rereading the series and just wanna review as I go! I read both books in the series in one weekend, which obviously meant I sacrificed sleep for reading. So that might have something to do with […]

Review: Ms. Manwhore by Katy Evans

Review: Recommended for: Chi-town lovers and The Newsroom bingewatchers Short book (novella) = short review. I have mixed feelings about this. One the one hand, I’m never one to dislike extra bits & pieces of a favorite series. And I loved the Manwhore books. (Fun fact: it turns out I only read like 75% of Manwhore +1 before having to put it down for an ARC coming out soon. I forgot about this until I was halfway through this book and realized I spoiled myself [ick, that sounds gross]. As soon as I realized, I went back and finished book […]

Review: Playing with Fire by Kate Meader

Review: Recommended for: Scandal fans (especially #TeamOlitz). I’m not sure why, but I feel¬†under-the-surface¬†similarities between them and this couple. Loved this! Even more than the first book in the series. In Flirting with Fire, I loved the chemistry, the relationship, and Luke on his own. But I didn’t love Kinsey on her own – mostly just as part of “Luke and Kinsey.” In Playing with Fire, I loved both main characters on their own as much as I loved them together. Alex reminded me of someone who was just born to be Wonder Woman for Halloween…or in real life. ūüėõ […]

Review: Dirty Talk by Megan Erickson

Review: First of all, I cannot for the life of me figure out if I’ve read Dirty Thoughts and it’s driving. me. crazy. I thought I had, and that it was how I’d heard of this series. But then when I downloaded this I noticed there were no other Megan Erickson books in the alphabetical “Dirty” area of my Kindle (sidebar: I have¬†a lot of books whose title start with the word ‘dirty’…). Hmmm. Maybe I hadn’t read it? But then we start the book and Cal and Jenna feel¬†really¬†familiar and I even vividly remember a scene that a friend […]

Review: Dark Wild Night by Christina Lauren

Review: As much as I loved the rest of the series so far, Dark Wild Night is definitely my favorite so far. I find it kind of funny that: Book #3 was my favorite (so far, at least) for both Wild Seasons and the Beautiful series. Book #3 of each series featured “nerd love”¬†couples. Book #3 of each series featured girls I could relate to. (Although I still find it¬†creepy how much I have in common with Hanna!) And even before I made those¬†connections, one of the reasons I loved this book more than the others was that the love […]
