Review: Bedside Manners by Phoebe Fox

Review: This one was pretty meh on my first read, so when I didn’t write my review right away and had some space in my reading schedule, I decided to give it another chance in November hoping I would like it more. I didn’t like it more, but I didn’t like it less. It was so very meh. 🙁 It was cute and chicklitty, one of those “modern working woman” spins on “the shoemaker’s children go barefoot:” Brooke gives relationship advice for a living but can’t seem to get her own romantic shit together. Very Carrie Bradshaw (although she always […]

Review: First of all, this book was so fun, but so was becoming Twitter besties with Helena Rac and sharing my reactions with her while I read. 😛 @BookBumblings Thanks so much! Hope you enjoy it! ♥♥♥ — Helena Rac (@HelenaRacAuthor) November 9, 2015 @BookBumblings Omg Brittany, you're the first to let me know you started it! I hope you continue to love as you get through the story! 😊 😅 ♥ — Helena Rac (@HelenaRacAuthor) November 16, 2015 But then “needs to read” got in the way of “wants to read” and I caused someone else anxiety, which is […]

Review: Ninja at First Sight by Penny Reid

Review: So, this happened last week: @bberg1010 #NoRegrets — Penny Reid (@ReidRomance) November 17, 2015 And it was really bad, because it was days until I could actually finish because of work and shiz and stuff and more shiz. I had to avoid the Facebook fan group, not because of spoilers but because of reactions I’d be jealous of. But that was the cool thing about this novella, and my lack of overall memory: even though I read a portion of it a year ago, it felt like new. Last year’s version was a shorter story. And when someone with a bad […]

Review: The Pitch by Belinda Williams

Review: Eh. My hopes were so high for this. I’m always a sucker for a hero or heroine working in PR or marketing. So when I see that, I jump. I think I need to start being more selective, especially when I’m normally so fucking picky when selecting books to read. Those careers, and dance, are my exceptions. It was a pretty cliche “woman trying to have it all” story where everything worked out a little too easily. Conflicts weren’t particularly conflicty. Struggles were overcome or worked out easily. Everyone got along all the time. And the workplace dynamics really bothered […]

Review: The Coincidence of Coconut Cake by Amy E. Reichert

Review: This book was pretty so-so. I always enjoy a light chick lit, which this was. It’s been awhile since I’ve gone back to this genre, so that part of the reading experience was fun. And it was a fun read. It was easy and light, as well as funny at parts. The perfect beach read – which makes me mad that it was the only paperback I planned to read at the beach earlier this summer. I ended up taking out of my bag at my parents house right before we left and left it there. #wompwompwomp Anyway, the […]

Review: Sasha by Rae Matthews

Review: Recommended for: Chick lit fans and anyone who likes to see people find love from across the two sides of a bar. I don’t really know what to say about this book. There wasn’t anything that I explicitly disliked that I could put my finger on, but there wasn’t anything that I really loved, either. On paper, I should love this book. I love lighthearted humor. I love sarcastic and sassy heroines. I love male heroes that aren’t tortured and are genuinely good guys. But maybe my issue was with the execution? There was a bit of humor. It […]

#ThrowbackThursday Review: Love Hacked by Penny Reid

Welcome to #TBT week 3! This will also be the last Penny Reid week, sadly, because I already review Neanderthal Marries Human so I’m kind of out of books of hers to throw back to. Soooo, who wants to suggest what I should throw back to next? Send me a tweet at @bookbumblings! And now, I present to you, Love Hacked. Love, and hacking. What a great combination for a geek like me! My Original Goodreads Review: I equally want to be best friends with Penny and all of the characters she writes. I’m also seeing a weird trend where […]
