About Just What I Needed:The second sexy novel in the Need You series, from the New York Times bestselling author of the Mastered Series and the Blacktop Cowboys® Series.
Trinity Carlson might be having the worst day ever. And that was before she started drinking in a dive bar, right across from her ex and his new girlfriend. So when she finally decides enough is enough, she grabs hold of a hot, blond stranger and gives him the kiss of his life.
Walker Lund never expected that a chance at love would hit him right on the mouth. Since the moment his brother decided to settle down, Walker has been dodging his family’s hopes that he’ll do the same. He’s never been interested in following in anyone’s footsteps. But when he discovers his sexy assailant has given him a fake name and number he suddenly finds himself in the mood for a little hot pursuit...
This was a fun, cute read. I read most of it during a day on the beach, and it all felt very appropriate. 🙂
First of all, I liked the formula. It was pretty much the same formula as the first book in the series, What You Need, but a completely different book. So authors who say you can’t follow a trope and make it original, take note. Lorelei James had her two heroes go through the same thing in completely different lenses and with different people, so ha!
Very much a meet cute, it quickly turns into a meet hot, if that’s a thing. It’s the kind of story that could win a “how we met” contest, if that’s a thing as well. 😛
And if these things don’t exist yet, I take credit.
There was also art, really cool sounding art.
(Although there should’ve been more sexy art scenes, goddammit!)
And a big family, which is always so enjoyable to read about. It’s the kind of thing that I know only ever seems perfect and fun in fiction, so I’d rather read a book like this, with a character from a big family that’s very involved in the plot, than go hang out with my boyfriend’s 9 aunts lol.
His fam doesn’t have a Selka. I wish they had a Selka!
And finally, there was a hot Viking. I’m not much the Viking type – in real life, I can’t tolerate kissing a beard at all, and will tell my boyfriend “go shave or I won’t kiss you” on the reg – but I love the idea of a Viking.
Once again, this book totally tapped into things I want in my dreams but not at all in my reality lol.
I mean, I still prefer Brady to Walker, I think. But he’s not winning out enough for it to really matter. 🙂
