About Every Little Thing:Hartwell, Delaware—the perfect place to get away from it all, and find what you never knew you needed…
Bailey Hartwell has many reasons to feel content—her successful business, a close circle of friends, and her steady boyfriend…even if their romance feels staid after ten years without a serious commitment. The only challenge in her life comes in the form of sexy businessman Vaughn Tremaine. She thinks the ex-New Yorker acts superior and that he considers her a small-town nobody. But when Bailey’s blindsided by a betrayal, she’s shocked to discover Vaughn is actually a decent guy.
Vaughn admires Bailey’s free spirit, independence, and loyalty. As his passion for her has grown, his antagonism toward her has only worsened. Every little thing Bailey does seduces him. But when Vaughn’s painful emotional past makes him walk away in fear he will hurt her, it opens an old wound in Bailey, and she uncharacteristically retreats.
Once Vaughn begins to realize he’s made the biggest mistake of his life, he has no choice but to fight like he’s never fought before to convince Bailey that the love they’ve found together only comes around once in a lifetime.
OMG, I geeked out a wee bit when I saw Samantha Young was coming out with a book set in Delaware. I don’t know how I missed the first book in the series!
So here’s me…
And yeah, that’s a big ole’ Delaware blue hen! YouDeeeeeee! 🙌
Lol if you’ve been a reader awhile, you’ll remember that Delaware is actually where I started this blog! I went to college at UD and lived there for almost 4 years after graduating. This book clearly takes place in the Slower Lower / beachy areas and I lived up in New Castle County, in Newark and Wilmington. But still! Those two places are only like 45 minutes apart since the state is so damn small.
And believe me, romance books set in freaking Delaware don’t happen often. Surprisingly, a state mostly known for the coolest VP and having more chickens than humans isn’t known for it’s romance. 😛 I’d never noticed a romance taking place here before, and when it was Samantha Young?! Sign me the fuck up! 🤘
So that’s how we got here. 😛 Now, what did we think?!
I loved this book. Obviously most of the Delaware stuff just made laugh a lot because yes, it is a pretty idealistic view of the Slower Lower areas. But the location didn’t come into play that often, actually. Other than a few Dover mentions (god I hate Dover), I kept forgetting that’s where we were.
And I really loved this book.
I mean Vaughn, come on. The dude was such a piner. I was sold from the start when he’s being all piney looking at Bailey on the boardwalk.
And as soon as I read Bailey’s plan, having seen the show New Girl soooo many times, knew exactly what would happen. (I almost wish Bailey had started singing 😂)
Seeing their push and pull and Vaughn constantly being practically perfection but a total ass at the same time made me rush through the book in one day. 🙂
