About Love Hacked:There are three things you need to know about Sandra Fielding: 1) She makes all her first dates cry, 2) She hasn't been kissed in over two years, and 3) She knows how to knit.
Sandra has difficulty removing her psychotherapist hat. Of her last 30 dates, 29 have ended the same way: the man sobbing uncontrollably. After one such disaster, Sandra--near desperation and maybe a little tipsy--gives in to a seemingly harmless encounter with her hot waiter, Alex. Argumentative, secretive, and hostile Alex may be the opposite of everything Sandra knows is right for her. But now, the girl who has spent all her life helping others change for the better, must find a way to cope with falling for someone who refuses to change at all.
This is a full-length, 110k word novel and is the third book in the Knitting in the City series. All books in the series can be read as a standalone.
Welcome to #TBT week 3! This will also be the last Penny Reid week, sadly, because I already review Neanderthal Marries Human so I’m kind of out of books of hers to throw back to.
Soooo, who wants to suggest what I should throw back to next? Send me a tweet at @bookbumblings!
And now, I present to you, Love Hacked. Love, and hacking. What a great combination for a geek like me!
My Original Goodreads Review:
I equally want to be best friends with Penny and all of the characters she writes. I’m also seeing a weird trend where in series that I love, I always relate to the main character in the third book the most.
So now that that weirdness is out of the way…do you use Bitcoin? Do you like dark and mysterious young hotties? Knitting? Techiness and general nerdiness? Punny tshirts? Star Wars? Read this shiz.
So let’s set the scene. I hear about this book, but we don’t have a lot of details about Alex obviously, since the book’s not out yet. The company I work for decides we’re going to start using Bitcoin to accept and send payments to our customers and partners. We’re the first company in our industry to do so. I’m the only public relations and marketing employee.
Basically, Bitcoin becomes my life. Fifty hours per week at work (actually, probably more), and probably spending twenty or more reading about, talking about, and writing about Bitcoin. I thought the last thing I would want to do is come home and be around Bitcoin some more, even though I LOVE the idea of a decentralized currency (mind if I geek out for a sec?).
Yet, Penny Reid changed my mind. Hot waiter? Check. Hot hallway makeout? Check. Sandra does not, in fact, make him cry? Check.
The best part? Trying to convince my Bitcoin-obsessed coworkers that the true identity of Satoshi Nakamoto had been revealed and to the delight of women everywhere, he was a superhot dude.
About Penny Reid:
SEX! It all started with sex, between my parents. Personally I don’t like thinking about it, but whatever works for you is a-ok with me. No judgment. The sex happened in California and much of my life also occurred in that state until I moved from the land of nuts (almonds), wine, silicon… boobs, and heavy traffic to the southeast US. Like most writers I like to write, but let’s get back to sex. Eventually I married and gave birth to 2 small people-children (boy-6, girl-4 as of this writing).
By day I’m a biomedical researcher with focus on rare diseases. By night I’m a knitter, sewer, lino block carver, fabric printer, soap maker, and general crafter. By the wee hours of the morning or when I’m intoxicated I love to listen to the voices in my head and let them tell me stories. I hope you enjoy their stories.
