Yesterday, I announced the first month’s challenge for Be a Better Blogger: improve your email marketing.
What I didn’t announce were my own goals for the challenge, so here they are.
I haven’t done much in terms of email marketing aside from adding new lists for different features like Bumblings Blog Tips and BookBlogWriMo.
So here’s what I wanna do:
Set up Zapier zaps to back up any lists that aren’t already being backed up.Update the designs so that things like share and follow buttons match the rest of my brand.- Optimize the copy on my opt-in forms.
- Customize some of my confirmation messages.
Create a master spreadsheet of all my subscribers across the multiple lists.Start working on a lead magnet for the Bumblings Blog Tips list. I’m thinking it’ll be some sort of blogging checklist.
My progress:
1/17 – Just spent an hour elbow-deep in MailChimp, Zapier, and Google Sheets setting things up to back-up my email lists automatically.
1/19 – I just finished updating the designs for the RSS-to-email campaigns for both the main RSS feed and Bumblings Blog Tips. The other designs are newer, so a redesign isn’t as urgent. I customized the colors a bit, added custom icons at the bottom for the website and social, and added square buttons linking to important pages just below the footer:
1/20 – I’ve started creating a downloadable PDF of a blog maintenance checklist. This will be offered to all current Bumblings Blog Tips subscribers, as well as act as an incentive for new signups. I may also sell it on its own fo’ cheap, like 99 cents cheap. What do you think of that idea?
What do you have planned?
I’m definitely looking forward to the email marketing tips. I took some time on MailChimp yesterday to play around. Can’t wait to read your tips soon!
