About Changing His Game:He controls the game, but she’s rewriting all the rules…
Marley Lake is no stranger to awkwardness, but getting caught watching a dirty GIF by the company’s hot new IT guy exceeds even her standards. That is, until she realizes he's as turned on by it as she is. But with a big promotion on the line, she refuses to let her current dry spell be her downfall. Maybe.
Austin Rivers has no business lusting after the irresistible editor of Gamers Magazine. He's a secret partner in the business—and technically Marley’s boss. One look at that GIF, though, and he’s ready to install a whole lot more than just software…as long as she never finds out who he really is.
But reality’s not as virtual as it seems, and when Austin’s identity jeopardizes Marley’s promotion, he has to change his game or risk losing the only woman with the cheat code to his heart.
Ug, Austin! I think it’s so appropriate that Austin’s name kind of, sort of rhymes with the sound ya make when you just let out all the feels. Unghhhh.
So, the backstory: I met Megan Erickson at ApollyCon and she was telling me about this book. I saw the cover and was just kind of hypnotized by it. She was *so* excited about this book that it was completely contagious. I couldn’t wait to read it!
I had to take a 5-minute break from my email to do a happy dance when I got an ARC for it. I could read it a few weeks early, and every frigging second counts.
Closer to reading time, I started to get nervous because there have been quite a few books recently that I had high expectations for, but were disappointed by. I went into this one cautiously because I’d been let down so much recently.
But around 10% I realized I could throw all caution to the wind (except I missed, because I have horrible aim).
The chemistry between Marley and Austin is insane. I’m so glad I didn’t read this book in public, because I’m sure my face was bright red and I *know* I had a huge smile on my face. 😉
And on top of that heat, the characters are both so endearingly nerdy. Yes, I feel really cliche feeling this way, but I do. Nerd is the new black. I don’t like it, and like to think of myself as an O.N. (figure it out). But it is what it is. Nerd love is hot.
Yes, the whole secrets thing, and even that particular workplace secret, is kind of overdone, the book was unique enough that I didn’t give one shit.
About Megan Erickson:
Megan worked as a journalist covering real-life dramas before she decided she liked writing her own endings better and switched to fiction.
She lives in Pennsylvania with her husband, two kids and two cats. When she’s not tapping away on her laptop, she’s probably listening to the characters in her head who won’t stop talking.
