Review: Return to You by Samantha Chase

My Review: This was a really cute book. The premise, the family elders playing matchmaker to marry their kids and nieces and nephews off, that I just love. I also really liked the characters and how they interacted with each other. Chemistry was off the charts, both in terms of sexual chemistry and interacting with each other on an everyday basis. And not just Selena and James. The secondary characters were really great, too. However, the plot lacked originality. I love second chance romances, and the reason for the first separation doesn’t need to be anything spectacular. But if it’s […]

Review: A Second Chance at Paris by Cole McCade

My Review: This was a really fun read. As we all know, I love nerd romances! It was a lot shorter than I expected, because it ended at like 52% and included the second book in the series (it was a nice surprise to read that, but I wish the first book was longer!). I think it was a great story of maturity and second chances. Celeste was this strong, bold woman who was the complete opposite in high school, to the point that her reality of high school was crazy skewed. My favorite part of the book wasn’t even […]

Review: For Valentine’s by Kat & Stone Bastion

Review: This was a cute and short story. I saw a few other reviews refer to it as an extended epilogue, and I think that’s the best way to describe it. I thought it was really cute how they were going all out for Valentine’s Day, since Cade and Hannah both have such bad memories from the holiday. I’ve found that I always feel like these extended epilogue novellas fall a tad bit short with me, and that was the case here as well. It’s just always kind of awkward feeling to me. The story has been wrapped up, but […]

Review: Still Beautiful by Amy Patrick

Review: One of my favorite things about Amy Patrick’s 20 Something series is that the main characters are always so likable. I can manage to enjoy a book while still wanting to slap the heroine in the face (and it happens frequently), but that never happens with this series. And this one was even better because they also made nerdy jokes all the time. 🙂 It did get kind of annoying how Cinda was always putting down her appearance, but it wasn’t like she was randomly insecure, like most insecure characters. It was a very understandable reaction to her surroundings […]

Review: Move over, Olitz, I have a new favorite political power couple. (And don’t give me grief for being Team Fitz, y’all. Mellie will be SO much better off without him and could have a kicks political career of her own as long as Portia’s character doesn’t mess things up too much.) Anyway… Loved, loved, loved this book. In general, I have no interest in politics. But I have found that I have a very deep interest in fictional politicians’ romantic lives. Does anyone else wonder if these books and shows are always so hot because it’s a politician’s job […]

Review: New Point by Olivia Luck

Review: I really can’t make up my mind about this book. I’ve flip-flopped back and forth between loving it and rolling my eyes at it countless times during the book, and even in the time since. I feel like the entire book makes the “tragic event” seem like something much bigger than it actually was. I’m not trying to belittle the situation, it was definitely something that would stay with a person for a long time. And as someone with a history of anxiety, I know how things that seem small to other people are much bigger deals to you. […]

Review: The Temp by Emily Benet

Review: I don’t know where to start with this book. I love weird, but this book was weird in a bad way. This review is going to be much more negative than the ones I like writing. Normally, if I disliked a book this much, I wouldn’t review it at all, but this is an ARC so I feel like I should. I think the worst problem was a wholly unlikeable main character. I just wanted to slap Amber so many times. She was naive and flakey and didn’t seem to take anything seriously. “Oh, I have no artistic talent, […]

Review: Star Struck by Laurelin Paige

Review: Ah. I just reread this book and forgot how amazing it was. It really has it all. First, let’s talk about sex, baby. (“Let’s talk about you and me, let’s talk about all the good things and the bad things that may be. Let’s talk abouuuut it.”) Sometimes I feel like I’ve been desensitized to sex scenes. After all, I’ve probably read almost a thousand romance books with at least five sex scenes each. A lot of sex, some of it hot, some of it not. So when reading them, I don’t get hot and bothered and out of […]

Review: Cover Story by Rachel Bailey

Review: This book was a little too sugary sweet for me, but I can think of a few friends that would like it. I mean, I have a slight gnome obsession (I will disown my family if I don’t come home from Christmas with the gnome Chia pet I asked for), but even I was like, “enough.” It was quirky and cute at first, and I absolutely loved it. But then I was expecting it to lead in to a bigger plot line in terms of Tobi’s career. But then gnomes became one of the most important parts of the […]

Review: That Man 5 by Nelle L’Amour

Review: Wow, this kind of feels like coming full-circle. That Man 1 was one of the first ARCs I ever read. I didn’t yet have a book blog, but connected with Nelle through an ARC discussion board in a Goodreads group. To now be reading an ARC of the final book in the series and reviewing it for a tour company, on my blog, is kind of cool. So this review is also kind of self-reflective. That being said, I feel like my reading tastes have changed a lot since then, so I didn’t enjoy this one as much as […]
